Co Founder / Owner
“I have had a passion for animals for as long as I can remember from as far back as when I was a young girl to today, ranging from my first Guinea Pig to my first horse. I just have an affinity with animals and things just come naturally to me when handling and dealing with them”
Clair founded wagNwalkies in 2013 after a successful career in IT left her feeling that there was a lot more to life than servers, issue resolution and upgrades! Following her dream Clair and her husband Les have built up a highly successful business that combines their two true loves; dogs and the great outdoors. Delivering a first class commercial service whilst keeping the welfare of animals as the focus of their attention, Clair and Les literally love what they do for a living now.
Delivering a truly unique concept and service to the area they have raised the bar for pet care and pride themselves on giving back to the pet owning community. Clair and husband Les as creators and chief organisers of the annual ‘Barky Malarky Charity Dog Show’ Clair & Les’ two messages are; all dogs are equal (be it a beautiful pedigree or quirky mixture) and that everyone can have fun with their pet. Encouraging local businesses and schools to become involved in spreading the messages Barky Malarky has grown to become a highly popular event on the Basingstoke social calendar.
Clair and Les have been lucky to care for many animals in their time and they currently share their lives with two gorgeous rescue dogs (Harley and Lulu), two cats, one horse and a host of freshwater fish. Having competed to a high level within both Show Jumping and Eventing, Clair now only rides for pleasure but is just as happy doing the ‘dirty jobs’ and spending time with her equine friends as she is actually riding. Ask Clair what she loves the most though and the answer is immediate, meeting all the new wagNwalkies guests of course!!
Clair and all the staff are POLICE CHECKED and SECURITY VETTED, indeed Les, Clairs husband spent twenty one years as an armed Police Officer before jointly creating the wagNwalkies business with Clair, this brings peace of mind that not only are your pets in safe hands but the integrity of your property is too.
Summer is a welcome addition to the wagNwalkies Daycare Team and has risen through the ranks in her first year here to be promoted to “Assistant Daycare Manager” providing a valued extra pair of hands for all daily tasks.
Summer’s love of all things four legged started at an early age. Surrounded by Labrador’s, Retrievers, Terriers, Doberman’s and Labradoodle’s she learnt that the love dogs give cannot be beaten and it’s for this reason she has thrown herself into full time membership of the Wag’N’Walkies team.
Summer studied Forensic Science at college and dreams of joining the Ministry of Defence Police as a dog handler. There aren’t many dog walkers that walk clients dogs but also forensically analyse the area at the same time! Our furry guests love Summer’s happy fun nature and we love having her as part of our dedicated team.
Pet Care Executive
Paige in another team member who originally joined us for Work Experience from Sparsholt College whilst completing her 2nd Year of Level 3 Animal Management. Paige also had other work experience placements in a couple of other Doggy Daycares and states without hesitation wagNwalkies is the best … so we accepted her on as a member of the team once she finished her qualifications.
Paige is fabulous and has a over whelming love of all the dogs, and for Paige working at wagNwalkies is like a child in a candy store.
Apprentice Petcare Exec
Charli joined us early in 2019 originally on work experience but she was so fabulous we couldn’t let her go, and she is now a fully fledged member of the team joining Zena as an “Apprentice” and will be completing her Animal Management Qualifications at Sparsholt College on day release from working in Daycare.
Charli loves all animals from Goldfish to Horses and everything in between BUT also has a particular soft spot for the big dogs! With a quiet, calm and caring demeanor she is loved by all the wagNwalkies canines. Charli carries out a variation of duties, but loves nothing more to be with the dogs as much as possible which makes her one of our top “House Sitting” team members, I get the impression she also enjoys the peace and quiet away from her siblings coming from a large family which is where she gets her fabulous qualities from.
Apprentice Petcare Exec
Zena is a bubbly northerner and is a fantastic assest to the team, she has joined us as an “Adult Apprentice” and will be completing her Animal Management Qualifications at Sparsholt College on day release from working at Daycare.
Zena loves all animals BUT has a particular soft spot for the big dogs! However can always be seen to be snuggled up with the smaller ones too during chill out sessions. With a caring, nurturing nature and bundles of energy Zena has now officially joined the team carrying out Pet Taxi Services, House Sitting and lots more.
Junior Pet Care Assistant
When Gracie joined us for work experience as part of a school placement, we just knew she was one of us!
She loves all our 4-legged guests and can always be relied on to snuggle, play and care for our beloved animals. With a caring, nurturing nature and bundles of energy Gracie has now officially joined the team for Saturday Daycare duties. We can’t wait to watch as she grows in confidence and rises through the ranks.
